The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognised as the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well. Only textile products that contain a minimum of 70% organic fibres can become GOTS certified. All chemical inputs such as dyestuffs and auxiliaries used must meet certain environmental and toxicological criteria. The choice of accessories is limited in accordance with ecological aspects as well. A functional waste water treatment plant is mandatory for any wet-processing unit involved and all processors must comply with minimum social criteria. The key criteria of GOTS, its quality assurance system and the principles of the review and revision procedure are summarised in this section.

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions. The GRS is intended to meet the need of companies looking to verify the recycled content of their products (both finished and intermediate products) and to verify responsible social, environmental, and chemical practices in the production of these products. The objectives of the GRS are to define requirements to ensure accurate content claims, good working conditions, and that harmful environmental and chemical impacts are minimized.

The Global Recycle Standard (GRS) was originally developed by Control Union Certifications (CU) in 2008 and ownership was passed to Textile Exchange January 1st, 2011.

tRUE STANDARD’s Certification

Please note that currently neither the final products nor tRUE STANDARD are certified as companies. Some of our productions are already certified. We mostly work with certified materials and show you their transparency through the sustainability symbols. We are working at full speed on the certification processes and hope for a quick result.

Daily Business Sustainability

In our office we use office supplies made of recycled materials. Business cards, printer paper, flyers, envelopes and even toilet paper are made from our recycled paper.

Currently all our garments are manufactured in Istanbul, Turkey and in Bamberg, Germany. Why Turkey? Because we want a nearby production facility so we can easily travel there to see what’s going on and support them in every way. In addition, we have a good and long-standing relationship with production and like to maintain close contact with the people behind our products. We regularly visit our manufacturer to define the working conditions for each item and audit the factory. With only one supplier we keep it simple and transparent. All our products are procured and serviced by Gaia Sourcing in Istanbul. Gaia Sourcing has been a member of the WWF Green Office Association since 2017.
